I decided to review the book Lone Witness by Rachel Dylan recently. I do not typically read Mystery/Detective type novels but I decided to try this one. This book is the second in the Atlanta Justice series. I did not read the first book and you do not need to as this book stands alone.
Sophie Dawson is the heroine of the story and the main character. She is an attorney who is involved in prosecuting a case involving a high profile financial institution. She also just happens to be the only witness to a crime involving the mob.
I found the above situation to be a bit unbelievable especially considering the fact that she is also described as being very beautiful and has so much money from her family that she doesn't need to work. Putting all that aside, the book moves along well and is a good summer read.
Rachel Dylan weaves a very suspenseful story with elements of faith interwoven in. She develops her characters fairly well and leaves you guessing as to the outcome of the story until the end. I will probably go and find her first book from this series. I would recommend this book to anyone wanting a quick mystery fix! I think I may even read more books from the genre in the future.

Surviving death is a fascinating read!

I recently finished a new nonfiction book that I wasn't so sure I would enjoy very much. I must say I was pleasantly surprised. This book approaches unexplained phenomena including reincarnation and past lives, near death experiences, and reports from mediums from a journalistic perspective.
The author has thoroughly investigated these issues and this book reports the stories and her findings. I myself believe in an afterlife and this book merely confirms what I already know to be true thru faith. Leslie Kean has facts from her investigations to support her stories.
So what do you think? Can we survive death? Do we survive death? The stories in this book make for very fascinating reading. I would definitely recommend this book. It is very compelling reading!

Is this the next new diet?

So how does a diet of bone broth sound? I must admit I don't really like the sound of it but I plan to give it a try. In this book, Dr. Kellyann Petrucci, a naturopathic physician and weight loss specialist promises to take 10 pounds and 5 inches off your belly in 10 days by following this diet.
This book contains shopping lists, recipes, and several before and after pictures and stories. The diet claims you can only eat during certain times of the day. Maybe most importantly there is a section for maintaining your slim belly forever once you have achieved success.
So this book is an easy read and well organized but does it really work or is it the newest fad diet? Give it a try and you decide! I received this book from "Blogging for Books" for this review.
